It’s the second half of March, which means that March Madness is upon us! If you are a college basketball fan like myself, you are probably brimming with excitement! To coincide with March Madness, Samsung announced a new ad for the Samsung Omnia II featuring Lamar Odom of the La Lakers. In the ad, Lamar Odom is shown highlighting some of the key features of the Samsung Omnia II including the Swype technology, the AMOLED screen and its fast speeds.

So why was Lamar Odom chosen as the face for this new ad? Well, according to Paul Golden, the chief marketing officer of Samsung Mobile, “Samsung Mobile found Lamar Odom a natural fit for our ad featuring the premium capabilities of the Samsung Omnia II with Swype technology for faster texting. Lamar is a remarkable athlete who is on the rise, just like the Samsung Mobile brand.” He adds, “The College Basketball Championships attract a diverse audience and one which we think will appreciate all of the smartphone features the Omnia II has to offer.”

We wrote in this article that the Samsung Omnia II became available on December 2nd. Currently, the Samsung Omnia II is only exclusively available via Verizon Wireless. It is a full touchscreen smartphone that is powered by Windows Mobile 6.5. Other key features include Samsungs own TouchWiz interface, a 5MP camera with flash and autofocus, 8 GB of internal memory, Bluetooth, and an expansion slot for a 16GB microSD card.

I’m sure some of you are fascinated with new gadgets, phones, or anything that has to do with technology, but it takes real passion to want to know what’s stored under the hood. We’ve seen our fair share of reviews of the Samsung Omnia II from Verizon, but this is the first dissection video we have come across. The boys from TechBlog have put together a short video of their Omnia II dissection adventure for everyone to enjoy. even though the Omnia II is running the latest version of Windows Mobile 6.5 with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, the phone looks like any other once the back cover it pulled off and all the innards displayed.
