Samsung Targets High End Market With Samsung Wave & Samsung Galaxy S

Samsung is about to launch a massive £12m marketing campaign in the UK to promote its flagship handsets, the Samsung Galaxy S and the Samsung Wave.

At a conference earlier this week, Samsung Channel manager Anna Tennent said that the campaign was their “biggest ever” and starting next month the Korean manufacturer will be devoting £6m to the promotion of each handset.

The Samsung bosses promise that a “spectacular” run of TV ads, and considering the superb standard of past Samsung ads, we’re certainly prepared to believe them!

Both of the handsets are aimed at the high-end of the mobile phone monthly market and boast some top class features: The Galaxy S is nothing short of a beast and runs on what is arguably the most powerful CPU to use the Android Platform, an ARM 1Ghz Cortex processor.

Comparable, to other manufacturer’s top-of the line handsets, the Galaxy S is Samsung’s strong arm in the smartphone battle. Even the similarly equipped HTC HD2 deals with considerably less than the new Samsung and the campaign is likely to focus on its Android platform, Layer Reality Browser and advanced Location-based services.

The Wave, by contrast is aimed at a slightly younger audience with standout features being its 3.3-inch Super AMOLED touch display. As the first device to use Samsung’s new Bada platform, all eyes are on it to see just how well Samsung have stepped up their game.
