Stanford Is New Head Of Samsung Mobile In UK And Ireland
Mark Mitchinson, the former Samsung VP of UK and Ireland, left the company last week. To replace him, Samsung has decided to promote Simon Stanford as the new head of Samsung Mobile in the UK and Ireland. Although Stanford has only been with the company since September 2009, he was successful in overseeing the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Portal, Samsung Diva and Samsung Monte.
Before he joined Samsung, Simon Standford was employed by Telefonica O2 UK for six years. As the head of connected markets, he was “responsible for the overall general management of the retail, services, media, leisure, IT and telcos sectors, ensuring effective collaboration across sales, marketing and product development.”
Only time can tell if his success will continue in his new position. However, it is clearly evident that Samsung has complete faith in him. In fact, David Song, the managing director of Samsung UK, said, “Simon has significant sales and marketing experience developed over twelve years within the UK mobile industry. Simon will be a key asset to Samsung as we strengthen our market position and we welcome him into this new role. It is an exciting time for the business and he will be leading a highly motivated and passionate team to continue our success.”
