10 Million Samsung Wave Phones and 1,000 Apps in 2010?

Just a few weeks ago, Samsung Electronics introduced the world to their first Bada smartphone called the Samsung Wave S8500 at the Mobile World Congress.  Since then, we have learned that Samsung plans on shipping 10 million units and producing 1,000 apps by the end of this year!  Those are some pretty impressive figures considering the fact that we are already a couple of months into this year!  Only time will tell if Samsung is actually capable of achieving this ambitious project.

The phone is expected to be available in 50 countries by May.  By that account, it gives the company roughly 8 months to reach that 10 million marker.  As the second largest handheld maker in the world, Samsung is definitely capable of achieving their goal.  Although Samsung’s goal of producing 10 million Samsung Waves is reachable, their other goal of producing 1,000 apps will certainly be a harder task.  Whereas the Samsung Wave is mostly reliant on the production of Samsung, apps are an entirely different story.  Not only will Samsung have to sign enough developers but they also have to do so in a timely manner.  On top of that, they have to rely on those same developers to develop the apps.

Samsung’s goals are definitely ambitious but don’t be surprised if Samsung actually pulls it off.
