Samsung unveils the new Android 2.1 Samsung SHW-M100S

We were expecting Samsung to unveil a new line of Android phones at Mobile World Congress in a little over a week, but it looks like they simply couldn’t wait any longer to unveil the new Android 2.1 powered Samsung SHW-M100S. The Samsung SHW-M100S is powered by an 800MHz processor with a large 3.7 inch AMOLED touchscreen sporting WVGA resolution and DivX support. The handset has a 5MP camera which supports 720p video recording and also includes a DTV chip (and a pretty large antenna) for watching TV on the go. Like the majority of Android phones currently on the market, the Samsung SHW-M100S will also have GSP, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Samsung has chosen to equip the new SHW-M100S with their own TouchWiz UI. Fortunately, it looks like the TouchWiz UI has been tweaked significantly when compared to the Samsung Behold 2 on T-Mobile in the U.S. market. Samsung has removed the side tab app drawer and dropped it down with the other docked icons at the bottom of the screen. They have also opted to give the home panels a more standard grid for app and widget placement.
The Samsung SHW-M100S release date is scheduled for March on Korea’s SK Telecom for an undisclosed price.
