Samsung sells 50 million touch screen phones

If you were wondering if touch-screen phone are catching on, Samsung would like you to know that they have just sold over 50 million of them. In 2008, Samsung moved nearly 10 million touch-screen handsets and in 2009 they have already been able to unload 40 million through the month of November. To put things into perspective, touch-screen phones only make up 20% of Samsung sales. Samsungs proprietary TouchWiz UI is featured on the majority of their touch phones and has become the synonymous UI with their phone running on multiple operating systems (Android and Windows Mobile included). The European market accounted for the majority of the touch-screen sales for Samsung (19 million units), followed by the U.S. (6.3 million units), China (3.4 million), and Korea (3 million).
Below is a list of the three most popular Samsung touch-screen phones to date
- Star S5230, which surpassed 10 million units within six months of its launch.
- F480, which has sold 9 million units since May 2008
- Corby S3650 with 3 million units sold within only two months since its launch in September of this year.
